It was "as you were" at the top of the table with the top four sides all winning their games. Other winners were Cherry Knights who climbed two places into fifth position with victory over Waddington United and Metheringham, the only side in the bottom half to win, who climbed one place to tenth after beating Harby by the days biggest score. Leaders Plough Skellingthorpe won their tenth successive league game with a 2-0 win over BBH. Dean Szendrey netted his eighth goal of the season and Ricky Langley bagged his first for the club. Second placed AFC Victory won one of the city derbies at FC Ruston United 4-1. Andy Johnson and an own goal accounted for Ruston's goals while Dane Sayce, Rob Kinsella, Sean Booth (his 11th) and Duncan Gray got Victory's goals. Heckington got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory at Horncastle Town who have now failed to win in five games. Michael Musson (his 16th) netted twice and Jonny Vickers once for Heckington. Ivy Tavern CSA ,without a game for a month, blew the cobwebs away with a sound 5-0 victory over Ruston Sports Reserves in the second city derby. Billy Munro And Sam Allmond both got two and Rick Robinson one. For Robinson it was his 18th, taking him equal top scorer of the league while Munro's tally is now 12. Cherry Knights moved into the top five for the first time, with a resounding 5-1 victory over Waddington United. Their goals came from Pete Bullimore (2), James Coffey, Andy Green and Ian Edwards. Finally Metheringham won for the first time since September, hitting Harby for six with Ben Garrick netting four and one each from Jon Miller and Mark Jordan.

Report from Sat 22 Nov games
It is with sadness that one of our long established sides RMSC Athletic has withdrawn from the league. Their record has been expunged and the league tables revamped which sees some change in league placings. This is seen moreso at the head of the table especially after the result between the top two, namely Plough FC Skellingthorpe and Heckington United, with Plough ending Heckington's 100% record and the losers also having met and beaten RMSC this season. In the second league game Fulbeck United continue to climb the table as they completed a league double over Ruston Sports Reserves. It was also round one cup action in the David Cooper Cup with three ties taking place. Two of this were won by the odd goal with Cherry Knights beating Metheringham and BBH overcoming Horncastle Town. In the third tie, Waddington got over their thrashing of last week to trounce Harby.
The top of the table clash between Plough Skellingthorpe and Heckington United brought together the last two sides with a 100% league record and on the day a single Dean Szendrey goal was enough to see Plough victors. With the adjustment of the league table Plough are now five points clear of AFC Victory, with a game in hand while Heckington are a further point adrift but with two games in hand over Victory. Ivy Tavern CSA, who were inactive are fourth and Fulbeck United, who got back to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Ruston Sports Reserves climb to fifth above Waddington United (who had also played and beaten RMSC). Paul Crampton netted his first hat-trick for the Fulbeck with the other two coming from Gary Maken and an own goal. Rustons goals were scored by Nathan Roberts and Sam Coulson. In the David Cooper Cup BBH picked up their first home win of the season as they beat Horncastle Town by the odd goal in three. On target for the Heath were Gray and O'Boyle. Another tie was won by the odd goal in three as Cherry Knights beat Metheringham. James Coffey and Paul Nicholson (his 18th of the season and making him the league top scorer) netted in the first half to give Cherry a two goal lead but a spectacular own goal mid way through the second half made for a nail-biting end to the game as Meg hit the woodwork twice in the closing minutes. The final game was more clear cut as Waddington beat Harby 7-0. Danny Bee netted four (his second hat-trick of the season and 15th in total) with Andy Anderson, Craig Percival and Jason Murphy getting the others. For Harby it saw them fail to score for the last five games, nearly 500 minutes of football!
In the quarter final of the David Cooper Cup Cherry Knights now play Waddington United; Ruston Sports Res .v. BBH and Market Rasen Town .v. Fulbeck United. FC Rustons United receive a bye into the semi final following the withdrawal of RMSC Athletic.

It was back to league action for all our sides after the disappointment, in the main, for most of our sides in the Lincs Junior Cup last week. The top three, who all exited the competition, all got back to winning ways with Heckington and Plough Skellingthorpe both winning away from home and AFC Victory notching up a home win. Also getting back to winning ways were Cherry Knights while Harby, who failed to score for the fourth game in a row, shared the points with Horncastle Town. The final game between BBH and Ivy Tavern CSA was postponed with the management committee deciding, at their next meeting, as to the outcome of the match. The table now sees Heckington United and Plough Skellingthorpe share top place on the same points and goal difference with Plough having scored three goals more than their rivals. This came as a result of their visit to Waddington United, who were, until this game, unbeaten at home. Plough were to register the biggest "League" away win of the season as they romped to a 7-1 victory. Man of the match for Plough was Jonny Bell who rammed in four goals to take his seasons' total to thirteen. Also on target were Craig Smith, Matt Forbes and a first for the club from Sean Frecklington. Danny Bee netted the home sides consolation goal. Surprisingly playing their first away game of the season, Heckington United, like Plough Skellingthorpe, maintained their 100% record as they beat Fulbeck United 3-0. Heckington striker Michael Musson scored once, his fourteenth of the season along with a first of the season from Damien Brown and one from Mark Smith. AFC Victory, after back to back defeats also got back to winning ways with three second half goals against Metheringham. Their goals came from Dayne Sayce, three minutes after the break, a towering header from centre half Terry McDougall and a long range dipping volley from Sean Booth. Another side to find their scoring boots again were Cherry Knights, who beat Market Rasen Town 5-1. Netting his fourth hat-trick of the season, to make him the League's equal top scorer was Paul Nicholson with his seventeenth goal of the season. Andy Green and Joe Fisher got the other two with Adam Brumpton scoring for Rasen. The final game, as stated, saw bottom side Harby without a goal in over six hours of football but there was a bonus as they collected their second point of the season, drawing 0-0 with Horncastle Town who have now gone three games without a victory.

Wk 12 - 8 Nov
And then there were two but on the day it was not the two sides one would have expected to make progressing to Round Three of the Lincs Junior Cup. Our three side occupying the top places in our league, namely AFC Victory, Heckington United and Plough Skellingthorpe all exited from this seasons competition along with Fulbeck United who, on paper, appeared to have the easiest draw. Going into next weeks draw from our six round two sides were Market Rasen Town and Waddington United, who, one would have really expected to have been eliminated, so they thoroughly deserve the plaudits for their efforts. In the three league games played FC Rustons United climbed to sixth with a resounding win at Cherry Knights. Ruston Sports Reserves climbed out of the bottom four with victory over Horncastle Town and BBH and Metheringham still search for their first home or away win of the season, respectively, as they shared the points.
In the Lincs Junior Cup it was a known fact that one of our sides would progress into round three as Waddington United hosted fellow league side AFC Victory. The game turned out to be a pulsating affair with Waddington edging home by the odd goal in nine. On target for the victors were Terry Ramsden with two, Matt Poucher, Danny Bee and Craig Percival. Reigning champions Plough Skellingthorpe had a tough challenge as they entertained an unbeaten Boston League side in Swineshead Institute. Jonny Bell and Chris Hamnet were on target for Plough as the game ended 2-2 after extra time but Plough were to be knocked out on penalties. Heckington United too, had a tough challenge. In the previous round they had despatched Lincs League leaders Hykeham Town but in this round they were to be beaten by reigning champions Skegness Town 2-0. This in fact was the first occasion that Heckington had failed to score in all competitions this season. Perhaps pride of place has to be given to Market Rasen Town who visited another Lincs League side, in Ruston Sports. The Lincoln side were unbeaten in their league to date but a lone goal from Terry Paul was enough to see Market Rasen victorious. The biggest surprise of the day was the defeat of Fulbeck United at Grantham Premier League side Barrowby. The Grantham side were bottom of their league with their only victory this season a first round win in this competition. Fulbeck went into the game on the back of six straight wins but lost out 3-1 with their consolation goal coming from Gary Maken.
In the league there were victories for two Lincoln sides with the third game between BBH and Metheringham ending in a 3-3 draw. BBH went ahead but Metheringham levelled and went ahead twice before BBH grabbed the equaliser. Metheringham's scorers were Pokhin Cheung (2) and Jon Miller. Biggest winners of the day were FC Rustons United who beat Cherry Knights 4-0 with a Simon Ward hat-trick and one from Ady Dales. Finally, while their first team were being beaten by Market Rasen Town, Ruston Sports Reserves were beating Horncastle Town 4-2. On target for Rustons were Chris Rawlinson (2), Sam Coulson and Callum Edwards while Graham McMahon and Lamming netted for Horncastle.

The four quarter final ties in the Village Trophy went much as expected and has set up exactly the same pairings in the semi final as last year. Heckington comfortably beat Harby. Fulbeck United won away at Waddington United. Cherry Knights beat BBH in a high scoring game and holders Plough Skellingthorpe overcame Metheringham.
In the League ,AFC Victory took full advantage of their nearest rivals being otherwise engaged and went four points clear with a win over Ruston Sports Reserves. Fifth placed Ivy Tavern CSA missed their chance over going equal second as they were held by Market Rasen Town with FC Rustons United winning the local derby against neighbours RMSC Athletic.
In Cup action holders Plough Skellingthorpe met Metheringham at home for the third time in just over a month and came away with a 5-2 win. Metheringham took the lead through Mark Jordan but Plough were level before the break. They then took control to go 5-1 up before Meg pulled a goal back through Jon Miller. Plough's scorers were Jon Bell (2), Steve Drewery (2) and Sam Booth. Last seasons' losing finalists Heckington, playing Harby for the second successive week, hit them for six with a 6-0 win. Michael Musson bagged four to go with the six he netted the previous week while Mark Smith got the other two. Fulbeck saw an easy passage into the semi final with a 4-0 win at Waddington United while Cherry Knights shared ten goals in a cup thriller at BBH, edging home 6-4. This game saw three hat-tricks with Andy Green and Paul Nicholson netting Cherry's goals and Matt Waite getting three for BBH along with one from Nick Phipps. As stated the semi final draw pairings is the same as last year with Fulbeck United against hosting Heckington United while Plough Skellingthorpe visit Cherry Knights, whereas they were their visitors last season. For Heckington it will be their seventh successive semi final appearance, with Plough playing in their fourth and Fulbeck and Cherry in their third.
In the league leaders AFC Victory entertained Ruston Sports Reserves looking for the second league double of the season so far. This they achieved with another 3-1 win with Sean Booth on target for his fifth game in a row along with Terry McDougall and Dane Sayce. Jon Walker netted Ruston's goal. Market Rasen Town, without a league win in a month stopped Ivy Tavern CSA going second with a 1-1 draw. Kal Matu got their goal with Billy Munro netting for Ivy. FC Rustons United, with only one defeat in their last four games won 2-0 against RMSC Atlhetic to climb to seventh in the league. Adi Dales and Sam Ward netted their first goals of the season. For RMSC, through no fault of their own, it was only their fifth league game so far and they have not won since their first match.

It was wins all round for the top six sides in the league with goals in abundance for most of them. Leaders AFC completed a league double at Market Rasen as too did Plough Skellingthorpe at home to FC Rustons United. Heckington United were the days top scorers against bottom side Harby with Ivy Tavern also in the goals against Cherry Knights. Waddington United's game with Metheringham failed to take place and no doubt they will be awarded the points. Fulbeck continued their unbeaten opening to their season with a win at Ruston Sports Reserves and Horncastle edged out BBH.
Leaders AFC Victory needed to win at Market Rasen to stay ahead of the chasing sides and did so with a very comfortable 4-0 win at Market rasen. Sean Booth took his goal tally to nine for the season with Pete Noble, Duncan Gray and Gareth Simmonds getting their other goals. Picking up their seventh league and cup win of the season, Plough Skellingthorpe overcame FC Rustons United 4-1 with Steve Mehta, Jonny Bell, Matt Forbes and Sam Booth on target while Tony Blee was once again Rustons goalscorer. Heckington United registered the seasons' biggest home win against Harby with an 8-0 win and last seasons top striker Michael Musson became the first player this season to hit a double hat-trick with six of their goals, Luke Hollingworth getting the other two. Ivy Tavern got back to winning ways after their disappointing defeat in the County Cup last week. They beat Cherry Knights 5-1 with the present league top scorer, Rick Robinson moving on to 14 for the season with two of their goals. Pete Rea also got two and Sam Allmond one. Fulbeck United picked up their fourth win in a row with a 2-0 win at Ruston Sports Reserves and Horncastle Town beat BBH by the odd goal in three at The Wong. Their goalscorers were Darren Trapmore and Jack Baxter with John Beaumont on target for the Heath.

Wk 8 - 11 OctIt was County Cup day for ten of our sides and it was a known fact that at least two would be going out as they had drawn fellow league opposition. At the end of the day six of the ten saw it into the draw for round three and these were Fulbeck, Plough Skellingthorpe, AFC Victory, Waddington Utd, Market Rasen Town and Heckington Utd.
Although all our sides are congratulated, the result of the day has to be Heckington United's victory over Lincs League high fliers, Hykeham Town, who it is reported, had gone 20 games without defeat. Making their debut in the competition, Waddington United had a narrow victory over Scunthorpe side, Scunthonians. Also making their debut BBH were less fortunate, going out to reigning champions of the East Lincs Combination League, North Somercotes United. Ivy Tavern CSA were to make an early exit, going out to old adversaries, Gainsborough side, AFC Friendship. Cherry Knights lost at home to league colleagues, Fulbeck United while Metheringham lost at Plough Skellingthorpe. the easiest win was by AFC Victory who beat Peterborough League side Langtoft United with Market Rasen Town winning on the road at a poor Boston League side from Nortoft. The Two leagues games taking place saw two draws recorded with Harby picking up their first point of the season against Ruston Sports Reserves and FC Rustons United sharing the spoils with Horncastle Town.
In the cup, Heckington United could not have had a tougher opponent than Hykeham Town and found themselves a goal down early on to a Rob Newman strike. Veteran, Adi Carter levelled for them before the break and then another of their ageless players, Jonny Vickers, made it 2-1. Hykeham got it back to 2-2 through Adam Wilkins but a second from Vickers and then a penalty from Steve Borrill saw them register a great win. Waddington United had an equally close game against Scunthonians. With goals from Terry Ramsden, Craig Percival, Andy Anderson and Aaron Bee they won by the odd goal in seven. Losing by the odd goal in three were BBH, who lost to North Somercotes. On target for the Heath was Matt Waite. Goals were in abundance at Cherry Knights with them losing 4-2 to Fulbeck United. Netting for the winners were Chris Bates (2), Gary Macken and Chris Marshall while Cherry's goals came from Joey Fisher and Andy Gray. Perhaps a surprise result was the defeat of Ivy Tavern CSA who lost at Gainsborough to AFC Friendship by the only goal of the match. Plough Skellingthorpe were 4-0 up at the break against Metheringham before beating them 5-1. Jonny Bell netted 3 with Booth and Dean Szendrey getting the others and Jamie Young netting from the penalty spot for Meg. Also grabbing a hat-trick was Sean Booth for AFC Victory who beat Peterborough division three side Langtoft United. Also on target were Mark Dring and Terry McDougall. Finally in cup action Market Rasen Town had a comfortable victory over lowly Boston League side Nortoft. Although the score was only 2-1 they totally controlled the game with their goals coming from Mike Manning and Kye Paul. While the biggest win for our clubs was 5-0 by the Vic' spare a thought for Scartho FC who visited Lincs League side CGB Humbertherm ,who knocked RMSC Athletic out. They lost 19-0 - that is a goal nearly every five minutes!!
In the League FC Rustons United played Horncastle Town for the second occasion this season. Since their last meeting, when they lost 1-0, three games ago they were unbeaten, but on this occasion the winning run came to an end as they shared a 1-1 draw. Dave Curtis netted for Rustons and Andy Shackleton for Horncastle. Still looking for their first win in six games, Harby entertained Ruston Sports Reserves, who had won for the first time in four games last time out. At the end the celebrations were with Harby who collected their first points of the season in the 1-1 draw. They also netted their first home goal of this campaign but who got the all important goal is not known while Clough netted for Rustons.

Review of Today's games - Sat 20 Sept - Wk 5
AFC Victory went one point clear at the top of the table after Waddington United lost their first game of the season. Reigning champions Plough Skellingthorpe moved above Waddington into second place as they retained their 100% record, while Ivy Tavern and Heckington United both pick up their third successive wins to hold fourth and fifth place. At the other end of the table Harby dropped into bottom position as BBH picked up their first win since re-joining the league while FC Rustons slipped into second to bottom place after suffering their fourth defeat in a row.
Terry McDougall netted a brace and Sean Booth one as AFC Victory won 3-1 at Rustons Sports Res. Adam Lynn was on target for Rustons. Plough FC visited Market Rasen who were playing their first home game of the season. Plough took a 2-0 lead with goals from Dean Szendrey and Jonny Bell but Rasen came back with two goals in two minutes to level the game before Szendrey grabbed the winner with fifteen minutes to go. This win puts Plough one point behind the Vic' with a game in hand. New boys Waddington found out what it was like to lose as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at Heckington United. Carl Sedlan on his return from Sleaford Town netted twice with Dave Davidson and Mark Vaughan getting the others. This saw Waddington slip to third just one point ahead of both Ivy Tavern CSA and Heckington who have two games in hand. Ivy Tavern CSA, like Heckington, continued their winning start with Ivy collecting an early season double with victory at Metheringham. The home side take a 2-0 lead inside ten minutes with goals from Jon Miller and Ashley Woodhall but George Brown reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time. Meg held Ivy out until the 70th minute when Daz Walker netted the equaliser and four minutes later Billy Munro scored the winner. Metheringham dropped to fifth place while Horncastle Town climbed to sixth as they collected their second win in a row with a 1-0 victory over FC Rustons United, who have lost four successive games. Andy Shackleton got Town's goal. In the bottom of the table clash, BBH picked up the first win of the season, with a 3-0 win at Harby. This pushed Harby to the bottom as BBH climbed up to twelfth. The only other league game should have seen Fulbeck United meet Cherry Knights but Fulbeck were unable to raise a side. The League Committee will sit to decide the outcome of this game but it is more than likely that the game will be awarded to Cherry.
In the previously postponed Lincs Junior Cup tie, RMSC Athletic failed to make it into round two, going down 4-0 at Lincs League side CGB Humbertherm.

Five of our sides should have been involved in Round One ties in the Lincs Junior Cup but only three sides were at the end of the day. Two teams not playing were Heckington united who received a walk-over against East Lincs Combination side Hogsthorpe St Mary's while RMSC Athletic's game at Lincs League side CGB Humbertherm was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch (this game will now be played next week). In the two remaining ties Ivy Tavern CSA recorded the highest score by any team in the first round of this seasons' competition with a 12-0 victory at Boston League side Holbeach Bank. Rick Robinson hit a double hat-trick, Billy Munro a hat-trick with Pete Rae getting two and Steve Gilliatt one. The other tie was an all Lincoln League tie which saw Cherry Knights overcome FC Rustons United 4-1. Cherry's scorers were James Coffey (2), Ben Martin and Andy Green with Danny Christopher getting both Rustons goals.
In League action leaders AFC Victory saw their 100% record go as they were made to share the points with one of their bogey sides Fulbeck United. The score was 2-2 with Alan Merryweather and Clements getting Victory's goals. With Victory dropping points Waddington were able to go level on points with them at the head of the table, although the Lincoln side hold top position on goal difference. Sat 5 July
The fixture Secretary for the League is hopeful that the new fixtures will be out after the cup draws have been made on 14 July
*************
The Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 17th June at Moorlands Railway Sports and Social Club.
Derrick Richardson made his 33rd consecutive report as Secretary, an achievement in any organsation.
As mentioned AFC Maze had withdrawn but Harby FC had asked to be re-instated (as a new committee had been formed) and two new clubs made application, namely Waddington United and BBH (who were last in league in 2001-2002 season). These three sides were all welcomed into the League taking the membership up to 15 teams for the new season. The season will commence on Saturday 23rd August 2008 ended on Saturday 2nd May 2009. Fixture Secretary James Stanley is hopeful of getting the new fixtures out by the end of the month. This will include cup competition with the exception of the Village Trophy which has put out an invitation to other clubs with a closing date of 31st July. At present there are now eight sides in the competition on the arrival of Waddington Utd and BBH in the League.
Awards were made at the commencement of the meeting as follows
Charles Hammond Memorial Trophy for top scorer in the League - Michael Musson (Heckington United) - 27 goals
Matt Brewitt Merit Award for the outstanding secretary of season - Tom Howden (Plough FC Skellingthorpe)
H.P. Gibson Trophy for the best disciplined Club - Horncastle Town (for the fourth occasion in the last five seasons)
LINCOLN & DISTRICT VILLAGE TROPHY COMPETITION
The League is looking to increase numbers in its oldest competition, the Lincoln & District Village Trophy. The competition has been running since 1906 but over recent years entries have fallen dramatically due to an absence of football clubs in local villages. In the light of this the League invite any village side within a 30 mile radius of the Lincoln Stonebow to enter. League Secretary Derrick Richardson would welcome a call from any interested clubs. The closing date is the 31st July 2008. Entries can either be in writing to 12 Buttery Close, Lincoln, LN6 8SL or by phone on 01522 822623.
THE 2008-2009 SEASON AGM WILL BE HELD AT MOORLAND RAILWAY SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB ON TUESDAY 17tH JUNE AT 8.00 PM - ALL CLUB MUST BE PRESENT
